Alizee Guerrier a Bio Medical Engineer student came to Gateway from Haiti with a dream — fueled by courage and determination.

Her student visa meant she is not eligible for federal or state financial aid or student loans. Every class and every textbook came at a cost she and her family deeply felt. “When I first started, I could only afford to take two classes,” she recalls. “That was all my family could manage.”

Still, Alizee refused to give up. Her dedication and hard work earned her a 4.0 GPA, proving what’s possible when students are given a chance.

Then came the scholarship that changed everything. “It lifted such a burden off not only me, but my family,” she says. “It allowed me to take a full course load and focus on my studies instead of worrying about how to pay for the next semester.”

Today, Alizee is thriving proof that when donors give, you do more than fund an education. You change the trajectory of an entire family, open doors, fuel dreams, and create a ripple of opportunity that lasts a lifetime.
