Gateway Community College Foundation Board Attends Legislative Breakfast Supporting Student Success

Members of the Gateway Community College Foundation Board joined Connecticut legislators at CT State Community College Gateway for a legislative breakfast focused on student success and the role of community colleges in strengthening communities across the state.

The board’s presence reflected a commitment to advocacy where it matters most. By engaging directly with policymakers, board members helped reinforce Gateway’s value to the state and underscored the importance of continued investment in accessible, high-quality education.

Students anchored the conversation by sharing firsthand experiences that highlighted how flexibility, academic support, and individualized attention shape their paths forward. The board’s engagement helped ensure these stories were heard not only as personal narratives, but as evidence of a model that works for students balancing education, work, and family.

This moment exemplified the board’s broader role in stewardship. Beyond oversight, board members serve as ambassadors for Gateway’s mission, building relationships and lending credibility in spaces where long-term decisions about higher education are made.

The Foundation thanks CT State Community College and Connecticut State Colleges and Universities for their partnership and continued collaboration. The event was supported by the CT State Community College Gateway Culinary Program, whose preparation and service of breakfast helped create a welcoming space for meaningful conversation.
