Reverend Hiram L. Brett serves as Spiritual Care Coordinator and Chaplain at Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC) in New Haven. In his role, he works with patients and staff to nourish their spiritual wellness and wholeness. He, also, serves as a chaplain in various other settings including hospitals and hospice. Reverend Brett is a member of the Committee of Ministry (COM) for the New Haven Association of the United Church of Christ. Prior to joining CMHC, Reverend Brett served as senior pastor of Whitneyville United Church of Christ in Hamden, CT.
A graduate of Yale Divinity School, Reverend Brett had more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including senior executive level positions in marketing, finance, operations, and sales and administration with MCI, SNET, SBC, and AT&T prior to entering ministry.
Reverend Brett earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from Williams College and an MBA in Finance and International Business from Stanford University. Reverend Brett is on the Gateway Community College Foundation Board of Directors. In addition, he currently also serves on the boards of Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (IVCG) and New Haven Legal Assistance Association (NHLAA) of which he is a past president. He is a member of both Alpha Phi Alpha and Sigma Pi Phi fraternities.
Reverend Brett resides in New Haven with his wife Patricia, and they share two adult children and two grandchildren.
