Washington Trust

Founded in 1800, Washington Trust, the oldest community bank in the nation, is one of the Northeast’s premier financial services companies. It offers a full range of financial services, including commercial banking, mortgage banking, personal banking, and wealth management and trust services, with offices located in Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. In 2015, Washington Trust’s parent company acquired Halsey Associates, Inc., a New Haven-based investment advisory firm and longtime supporter of the GCC Foundation.
“Washington Trust is widely known and well respected for its community involvement,” according to Ruby Melton, GCCF Board member and its Scholarship Committee Co-Chair. “The company takes pride in reaching out to the towns, cities, and people it serves by supporting meaningful, much-needed initiatives. We are grateful for the positive impact they have in Greater New Haven, including right here at Gateway Community College.”
Washington Trust has underwritten the Gateway Community College/GCC Foundation Community Report for several years. It is also a regular Hall of Fame sponsor, including this year’s 25th anniversary event. Additionally, Thomas Beirne III, CFP®, Vice President, Senior Wealth Management Planning Officer and Business Development Officer at Washington Trust Wealth Management in New Haven, is a long-serving, active GCC Foundation Board member, currently serving as Board Vice Chair.
