You Helped Her Thrive: Precious’s Journey Through Gateway’s Supportive Community

Born and raised in New Haven, Precious Adkins’ educational journey is a testament to perseverance and determination.
Though she once struggled to stay focused in school, she found her path when she graduated from Adult Education. First, she enrolled in a four-year university, but had to pause her studies. Determined to continue her education, Precious made CT State Gateway as her top choice. She is majoring in Criminal Justice.
Receiving the LindyLee Gold Scholarship has been fundamental and allowed her to focus fully on her studies without added financial stress.
A single mother, Precious deeply values education and the example it sets for her child. She describes Gateway as “the opening to opportunities” and credits the college’s supportive environment for her success. “Not only are the professors great, but Gateway feels like a family,” she says. “I have been able to connect not just with people, but with the resources I need to thrive. Gateway has it all — whatever you need, Gateway has it.”
